The Idea behind the Luxembourg Jazz Orchestra
The idea is to create a musical framework based on the finest musicians from the local jazz-scene able to be a showcase of the Luxembourgish Jazz-scene and allowing international jazz-stars to come to Luxembourg and find a professional Big-Band to accompany them.
The band started back in 1993 when Ernie Hammes formed the 'Tribute to Jazz Big Band' for the '93 edition of the 'Printemps Musical' Today, many musicians of the original line-up are still on board, backed-up now by young blood recruited among the uprising new jazz-musicians.
The idea became reality
Today, the Luxembourg Jazz Orchestra can count on a strong line-up able to perform nearly every style of music you can ask of a modern big-band. From old-school swing to hard-bop, we cover the whole musical range of jazz-music and are always seeking new challenges by inviting internationally featured guest-artists from all around the world.
